Vincenzo Salvia is an Italian synthwave producer who first exploded onto the scene in 2012 with his debut EP, Voyage. A talented multi-instrumentalist, Salvia plays piano, guitar, drums and a little bit of bass. Prior to diving into 80’s inspired electronic music production, Salvia spent his earliest days playing Phil Collins’ hit “In The Air Tonight” with his mother’s wooden spoons before moving into playing guitar for many years in various local metal bands. These days, Salvia is best known for his unique style of Italo-infused synthwave, but he also dabbles in outrun, synth romance, and more, being careful not to limit himself to just one take on the genre. Instead he draws on a variety of influences from his youth, including some of the artists he admires most - Phil Collins, Michael Jackson, Tears for Fears, The Cure, and of course the many Italo disco acts that were popular in 1980s Italy.
Salvia also broadens his synthwave horizons by working with other top talents in the scene, having collaborated with the likes of Nightcrawler, Ultraboss, Powder Slut, Alpha Boy, Plaisance, and more. Since 2012, Salvia has released two full-length studio albums (Auto Radio and Weekend), two full-length compilation albums (B-Sides and Greatest Pizza), and countless EPs. He’s also seen his music featured on the soundtracks to The Summoner and Beyond the Gates. Over the past year, he’s been tearing up the touring circuit, most recently performing at Retro Future Fest II in London, in addition to past performances in Berlin and Italy. Oh, and he’s one of the co-founders of the highly respected label Sunlover Records.
With all that Salvia has already accomplished, you might wonder whether he has time in his life for anything other than synthwave. As it turns out, he does. When he’s not playing music or writing the next synthwave hit, Salvia is debating the merits of pineapple as a pizza topping (feel free to ask him about his disdain for this abomination, if you dare), designing amazingly authentic advertisements for Lipstick Crush Records, and, most importantly, spending time with his wife and fellow synthwave producer Yana Mesha (aka Powder Slut) and their Pechinese “G.” To learn even more about this talented producer, visit www.vincenzosalvia.com for all of your Salvia-related needs.
